Artist Statement
I strive to create expressive artwork that conveys a strong sense of emotion through my use of texture and color. I want my portraiture to suggest the thoughts and feelings of the subject as well as present their likeness. By playing with colors, tones, and layers I am able to embolden my subject matters likeness with a sense of mood. I have been heavily influenced by my surroundings and area folk art. Consequently my work often branches in different directions depending upon the mood I’m attempting to convey. I constantly explore the process of making art and my approach to portraying my subjects. At this time I am experimenting with a variety of media using techniques in both two and three dimensions.
